AF de Tulsa Bylaws
About The Organization
L'Alliance Française de Tulsa was founded in 1955. We are one of America's 135 chapters of l'Alliance Française, the largest network of French language and cultural centers in the world. Our Alliance is supported by our members and friends and governed by our Franco-American Board of Directors, which reports to our members.
For the Sep 2008- Sep 2009 season, we had 100 plus members and hundreds more participate in our various activities.
Our Mission
L'Alliance Française de Tulsa is a vibrant educational and cultural nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that serves Northeastern Oklahoma. Our mission is to promote the French language, and francophone cultures through programs in education and the arts.
Our Programs and Events
We offer a wide array of engaging programs and activities for people of all ages with any level of French language proficiency.
Our educational courses, shared media library with the Circle Cinema, social activities and cultural events celebrate the French language, traditions, holidays and francophone culture.
Our monthly Ciné Club, bi-weekly Café Conversation, and the Annual Free Concert for Tulsa area French Language Students are just a few of the enriching programs we offer for children and adults.
Annually the Alliance supports the Eisenhower International Elementary School student foreign exchange program, as well as co-hosts the Tulsa French Film Festival.
Our Worldwide Network
L'Alliance Française de Tulsa is proud to be affiliated with a worldwide network founded in Paris on July 21, 1883, when the Alliance Française de Paris was created to promote French language and culture and to foster positive relations between all Francophones and Francophiles. Original members included: the scientist Louis Pasteur, the diplomat Ferdinand de Lesseps, the writers Jules Verne and Ernest Renan, and the publisher Armand Colin.
We are members of the Federation of Alliances Françaises USA, whose mission is to support its individual member chapters in their efforts to promote French language and francophone culture, cross-cultural understanding and the strengthening of intercultural communication.
