Education Committee
The mission of the Education Committee of the Federation is to assist Alliance Française chapters in strengthening their French language programs and broadening their course offerings. The effectiveness of the Committee's work is dependent on the contributions of its membership and the willingness of AFs across the country to share their best practices. If you would like to participate in the work of the committee, please contact: federation@afusa.org .
Current Education Projects
These workshops give members an opportunity to work together on various projects and to share their experiences with one another.
October 2005 saw the publication of the Federation Education Handbook, a project of the Handbook Sub-Committee Education Committee (co-chairs: Rebecca Valette, AF de Boston et de Cambridge, and Béatrice Hildebrand, AF de Sacramento). This 200-page bound book is the product of collaboration between dozens of AF members across the country.
This listing, alphabetized both by Alliance and by text title, is available in the Education section of the Members Only site. Alliances are invited to update their information by contacting federation@afusa.org .

Dissemination of educational AF materials
The Education Committee also tries to identify materials developed by Federation members and to make them available on this web site so that they can be shared with all interested chapters. Current materials, available at the Education section, include the following:
- Code de Bonne Conduite
Several years ago, at a regional meeting in New Orleans, a group of AF education directors wrote up a "Code de Bonne Conduite" which offered general guidelines for the establishment of French classes in the United States. It is addressed to newly-hired native French teachers who plan to teach AF classes. - Teacher Guidelines: AF de Houston
The Alliance Française in Houston has prepared a set of guidelines for its teachers and has generously offered to share it with Federation members. The text is in French and is written for native instructors.
