On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the death of the brilliant French composer Claude DEBUSSY (nicknamed “Claude de France”), Olivier present a commented piano recital, or musical conference, showing relations between Debussy, Nature and Poetry : Moonlight, Reflections in the water, Gardens in the Rain, Fog, The Sunken Cathedral, The Wind in the plain, The snow is dancing, The little shepherd … Commented recital by the pianist himself ! Very few pianists speak to the public about the pieces they play. Olivier has always been successful in communicating and sharing emotions. But never through austere lectures or tricky analyzes: just a few simple words from the heart, with poetic emotion and essential and worth knowing facts about the pieces and the composers. The idea is to establish a living contact with the listener, allowing him to get in touch easily with the gorgeous world of piano music. With the pianist himself as the “professor”, the result becomes doubly interesting. The short oral and spontaneous presentation, by the interpreter himself, leads to a special emotional connection with the audience… Each piece of music is briefly presented (2-3 minutes): a bit of history, the context of the composition, the inspiration of the composer, and some important biographic elements. The pianist also evokes the musical poetry of the work, and various characteristics as style, size, importance, duration, difficulty … In some cases, the pianist reads for the audience a choice of the composer’s letters, or extracts from his diary, or short poems written by contemporary authors… The show alternates piano pieces on the piano and commented presentations – in English and French. The “commented recital” (or ” concert-lecture”) is available either as a single part of about 1:15, or in two parts with intermission (2 x 0:45) .
