Art and Chaos: Past and Present
A slide lecture of the various works of art related to our discussion about pandemics in history with special attention to the art movements during and after World War I and the Influenza Epidemic of 1918-19, as well as contemporary artists’ responses to Covid-19.
Beth S.Gersh-Nesic is an art historian and director of the New York Arts Exchange. Her specialty is modernism, specifically the art criticism of André Salmon who championed Cubism, Picasso and the École de Paris. Her most recent book, with renowned Salmon scholar Jacqueline Gojard, is Pablo Picasso and André Salmon: The Painter, the Poet and their Portraits. (Za Mir Press, 2019).
