There are no longer any restrictions on a member chapter receiving the same grant two years in a row.  However, a chapter may not receive more than one grant from the Federation in one calendar year. If you have any questions, please contact us by e-mail at federation@afusa.org.

Application Deadline: November 15.

The creators of the award stipulated that the funds be “made available for grants to member chapters of the Federation for use in projects to promote the awareness and image of the Federation and its Alliance Française chapters.” The Federation, through this Grant, is looking to support the Alliance Française chapter with the greatest need and which demonstrates a valid, identifiable impact of the grant on their Alliance. • Signage for building facades
  • Establishment of, or improvement of a website

The Cultural Programs Grants are awarded to member chapters for the development of a cultural initiative or specific program.

The grants offer a total of up to $8,000 in allocations per year. The grant amount can be the full amount of your project or a small portion of it. Grant funds each year will be awarded to one or more Alliances based upon the merit of each application.

There are no longer any restrictions on a member chapter receiving the same grant two years in a row.  However, a chapter may not receive more than one grant from the Federation in one calendar year. If you have any questions, please contact us by e-mail at federation@afusa.org.

Application Deadline: November 15.

The purpose of the grant is to provide seed investment for initiatives going forth. It is not to be applied for ongoing operational expenses (such as salaries, rent, etc.):

The Cultural Program Committee looks more favorably upon applications where the member chapter matches or makes a contribution to the project budget.

The subject matter of your Member Chapter grant proposal should be pertinent to the Federation of Alliance Française mission of promoting French language and Francophone culture with the goal of “improving cross-cultural understanding and strengthening intercultural communications”. The method of conveyance is fairly open and can range from lectures, musical or theatrical performances, invitations to authors or lecturers, fashion shows, Bastille Day events or even cooking demonstrations (Please note: food/beverage in and of itself for events is not eligible for funding).

The second requirement of the project is that it expand the scope and or depth of your cultural program for your members; that is, that it “develop” your program activity. It should be an activity that would not be possible without the grant support. The Grant is for investment and development initiatives, not for operations, such as salaries or supplies, but it can be used to pay for airfare, hotel and honoraria. Ideally, it would be an event never done before by your chapter, although it is possible that you request funding to redo a previous event on a grander scale.
