AF Chapter Insurance
During the annual meeting, we received a number of questions about chapter insurance. There is no doubt that insurance costs have increased, and that adequate protection is more important than ever. We received many questions about host liquor liability which, of course, is very important to our Francophile organizations!
Below please find a summary of coverages prepared by our insurance advisor, NFP Insurance. It lists different types of Property and Casualty coverage available on an annual or short-term basis. All chapters, regardless of size, should strongly consider binding a General Liability policy, and many also obtain Directors and Officers coverage to protect their employees and board members.
Host liquor liability insurance is good for organizations that don’t sell alcohol but do allow people to drink on business property or at sponsored functions. A General Liability policy normally provides Host Liquor Liability for a small event in which wine is served, and no fee is charged. However, you may have chapter events that go beyond the scope of Host Liquor Liability coverage such as selling alcoholic drinks, applying and acquiring a liquor license, a catered event with liquor, an event venue requiring you to carry Liquor Liability, and so on. In these situations, it is best to determine if you need additional Liquor Liability protection.
We hope this is helpful. Please contact your insurance provider for further information. You can also contact Ben Morley of NFP
Insurance (FAFUSA sponsor) (ben.morley@nfp.com). NFP currently provides coverage to about 30 AF
chapters and is quite familiar with the issues we face. Which insurance provider you choose is up to each chapter, but the issue of adequate
insurance protection is of increasing importance! For further questions or information, contact Larry Hall, Treasurer, FAFUSA
(larry.hall@afusa.org).

Cyber Coverage: A cyber insurance policy helps an organization pay for any financial losses they may incur in the event of a cyberattack or data breach. It also helps cover any costs related to the remediation process, such as paying for the investigation, crisis communication, legal services, and refunds to customers
Hired & Non-owned Auto: Hired Auto coverage means your business has coverage when you or employees drive a rented, leased or borrowed car for business. Non-owned auto applies to employees and volunteers using their own cars for business purposes.
