Privacy Policy

The Federation of Alliances Françaises USA (AFUSA) is strongly committed to protecting the privacy of its online guests, customers, members, donors, and friends. We believe that maintaining privacy on the Web is very important and that informing our visitors about the types of information we collect and how we use it is crucial. To better protect your privacy, we provide this notice explaining our online information practices and the choices you can make about the way your information is collected and used. To make this notice easy to find, we make it available on our homepage and at every point on the website where personally identifiable information may be requested. We do not collect personal information about individuals - such as their names and postal and/or email addresses - except when it is voluntarily provided by such individuals.

When You Purchase a Membership

AFUSA will ask you to provide the information necessary to process and service your membership: name, billing and email address, telephone number, and credit card information. For reasons of security, credit card information is not stored permanently on the Web server. You may also be asked for additional information required to complete and service your request, such as the names of your children when joining as family members. We may also ask you about your interests so that we may keep you informed about events and programs that may be of interest to you.

When You Register for Events

AFUSA will ask you to provide the information necessary to process registration: name, billing and email address, telephone number, and credit card information. For reasons of security, credit card information is not stored permanently on the Web server. We may also ask you about your interests so that we may keep you informed about events and programs that may be of interest to you.

When You Complete an Online Survey

AFUSA occasionally posts surveys on its site. These surveys are completely voluntary and may ask about your interests, occupation, and educational background. We use this information only to have a better understanding of who is interested in our programs and services and to determine how best to serve you. Specific information collected in these survey forms is never shared with third parties.

When You Make a Donation

AFUSA will ask you to provide the information necessary to process your gift and provide you with our donor benefits: name, billing and email address, telephone number, and credit card information. For reasons of security, credit card information is not stored permanently on the Web server. We may also ask you about your interests so that we may keep you informed about events and programs that may be of interest to you.

Email Policy

We regularly send email newsletters and notices of upcoming events to our members or parties who have requested specific categories of information. You may unsubscribe to an email newsletter or notice at any time.

Occasionally, AFUSA may email persons requesting information, members, and/or donors to inform them of changes in this Web site or our online policies. If you do not wish to receive any email from AFUSA, please send an email message to federation@afusa.org with subject line ‘Do Not Email’.

We read every email message that we receive. We also try to respond within two business days of receipt. If you email AFUSA, your message and email address will be forwarded to the appropriate department within AFUSA. This department may choose to save your information in case you decide to contact us again.

Please feel free to contact us either by telephone or at any of the email addresses posted on this site with any type of question. We will make sure your question or comment reaches the appropriate person.

How AFUSA Uses Information Collected on our Website

AFUSA never shares with third parties any information you provide when purchasing a membership, registering for events, or making a donation. Occasionally, we may share the information you provide (when completing an on-line survey or requesting information: name; postal and/or email address) with other organizations or companies whose products and services might interest you. If you would prefer not to have your information shared in this way, you may check the “please do not make my name available” box located at the bottom of the page on which you have completed the survey or requested information.

Some of our business partners may use cookies on our site. However, we have no access to or control over these cookies. We might share aggregated demographic information with partners. This is not linked to any personal information that can identify any individual person.

We might use third parties to provide specific services (process orders, credit cards billing). These companies do not share or use personally identifiable information for any secondary purposes beyond filling your order.

When the user signs up for these services, we will share names or other contact information that is necessary for the third party to provide these services. These parties are not allowed to use personally identifiable information except for the purpose of providing these services.
